The PNG University of Technology launched its master plan for the campus as part of their 52nd Anniversary celebration today.

The master plan include the new student mess, designed to a cost of K50 million and will take up to 15 months to build.

The Government allocated K8 million to the University and promised to assist with another K12 million to construct the new student mess.

The University’s master plan was developed over the last two years, by a professional planning company specialized in designing campuses.

The University Council decided to divide the campus into three main areas, which include the residential area, a Uni City and the academic area, including the new student mess.

This is the area to house the new student mess, as the old one was burnt down during the students unrest last year.

Furthermore to their 52nd Anniversary, seven new staff houses for the Unitech School of Nursing were officially opened for use today.

The Government allocated K2.5 million to the nursing school, which assisted the college to build these new houses.

The construction of these houses begun last year in October and saw its completion this this year.

The University’s master plan is available on their new website unitechpng.com, which was also launched today by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Albert Schram.
